This course introduces artists to the skills and knowledge needed to develop their artistic practice into a small business. Emphasis is placed on the skills need to turn an artistic practice into a small business, such as marketing, image documentation, taxes, incorporating, and the logistics of working with galleries or participating in craft shows. Upon completion, students should be able to document their work and advertise it in a professional fashion, file taxes as a sole proprietor, understand the legalities of an LLC, and start to monetize their artistic practice in a variety of settings. This course has been approved for transfer under the CAA as a premajor and/or elective course requirement.
